While driving home from Home Depot this morning with a brand new bird feeder and a big bag of seed in the backseat (I figured that might help attract new photo ops) I spotted this guy hiding up in the branches. I literally drove all over the front range the last three days in search of hawks, eagles and owls and this cranky old bastard was hanging out just two doors down from our house. I’ve never seen an owl in the city before and I wasn’t going to squander my opportunity so I hustled to retrieve my camera.
I stood under him with my lens pointed up and he just stared down at me as I snapped, made adjustments, and snapped again. His right eye looked clouded over with a lid that didn’t close when he blinked and he really did look like a cranky old bastard. He just sat there as I stood under him taking pic after pic…
Snapped with EF 24-105mm lens, Canon 6D, Manual settings at 1/200s, f5.6, ISO 200
