When I was young I cared very little if a house, building or structure was torn down and rebuilt, it’s not typically a worry of the young, we figure newer must be better…Now that I’m getting older I find myself drawn to older buildings, I’m interested it what was, what is and I cherish historical sites and markers, etc. I say all of this because I had a plan when I left the house today, a plan to capture a fun Boulder landmark. On my way there, I saw a park in Boulder that I had never seen before and this really colorful cafe sat near the entrance, and I had to stop.
I parked the car, grabbed both cameras, a slew of lenses and walked on over. I was horrified when I read the posted sign indicating that this structure is being reviewed by the city for demolition. I can be, have been, and am sometimes still guilty of being wasteful but, this, this is just sad. I suppose I’ll go back and take more photos pre-tear down. They’ll probably replace it with another Starbucks or fro yo place. Insert my old lady grumble here…
