The weather in Denver requires planning, flexibility and the understanding that forecasts often mean nothing, absolutely nothing. I say that because on Wednesday our weather forecast indicated we would get around 4-6 inches of snow. The weather folks said it would be a hit and run storm. Well, instead of 4-6 inches, we received over 20 inches of sloppy, wet, heavy spring snow that shut the entire city down, closed the airport and wiped out power to almost 250,000 businesses and homes. It was miserable.
Today, just 2 days after the blizzard, I’m out walking and I pass a restaurant with a patio that’s not only open, it’s completely dry and filled with locals wearing shorts and short sleeves while enjoying their lunches under bright blue skies. In true Colorado style someone even brought along their pup to enjoy the sunshine and dry ground. I’m sure that no one told this little guy we are forecasted for another 4-6 inches tomorrow too…All I can say is I hope they’re right this time…
