Note to self…The secret of happiness is low expectations!

1874-1

Day 187

Having a well-developed sense of humor and the ability to laugh at myself are essential to my continued sanity during this project.  Today I really wanted to capture a sprawling landscape shot of our latest Spring storm (set to dump 15 inches of snow at our house).  I headed up a nearby canyon hopeful that when I reached the top I would be able to capture the beauty of the snow falling on the lush green rolling hills. Instead, I was rewarded with fog.  Heavy fog, can’t see my hand in front of my face fog.  I snapped a few photos anyway and planned my next picture while driving back home.  I knew that my husband had been lucky enough to see a blue heron on multiple occasions right near our house so I drove to the ponds where he had seen the bird and waited.  I waited, and waited some more.  I left, came back with rain gear and waited outside.  No blue heron, no birds, at all.  I snapped a few pics of the waterfall I could see while standing under a bridge I was using to stay dry and went home. Today’s pics are what happens when you leave things up to chance with no back-up plan…
