I somehow convinced my hubby to be model this morning (very early this morning I might add) so I could capture my first silhouette shot. In case you’re wondering what the heck is going on here, this is silhouette photography. In photography, a silhouette is defined as an outline that appears dark against a light background. Basically, it’s where your subject is seen as a black shape without detail against a brighter background. It’s an intentional and, I think, artistic outcome. The effect can be achieved with any bright light source, but is most commonly used against the sun. (usually around sunrise or sunset). The back-lighting from the sun shadows everything towards you and produces this effect.
This pic was taken about 1/4 mile from our house approx 30 minutes before sunrise and was taken using my Canon 6D and Canon 24-105mm lens.
“Enjoy it, because it’s happening.” unknown
